The Sieve Tailwaters is another well managed fishery with a well structured population of very selective Brown trout about 25 minutes north of Florence. The Sieve runs out of the Bilancino dam and through the Mugello valley which is famous for its striking beauty. The beat is only a few minutes away from a huge designer outlet so why not take a guided trip while your family spends the afternoon shopping for all the famous names in designer clothes? This beat is excellent for a half day's trip and is good from mid July to September. The season ends on the first Sunday of October
A Beautiful Brown caught on a fine Bamboo rod. The Upper Serchio No Kill
The Upper Serchio No Kill is just north of Castelnuovo Garfagnana and it runs through a valley of impressive beauty. The Valley is overlooked by Medieval castles which are still inhabited by their owners. Garfagnana is famous for its simple but fulfilling food and wines. The Valley offers a lot of magnificent sightseeing opportunties and is well known for its hiking trails in the Apuan Alps.
The Lima Stream
The Lima stream springs from the Abetone mountain in the Apuan Alps and is one of the most beautiful freestone wild streams in Tuscany. Its population of wild trout is of extreme beauty and the fishing is challenging but rewarding. The Lima Valley is of breathtaking beauty. The season starts in March and ends in September. This beat is completely unmanaged so the wild trout are very selective.
