FLY FISHING IN TUSCANY AND UMBRIA

www.mbrods.it

ME

Fly fishing in Tuscany and Umbria for trout and grayling? Yes, you've got it right. For the ultimate fly fishing experience under the Tuscan sun right in the middle of the land of Leonardo da Vinci, of Michelangelo and Giotto; in the land of Chianti, of Nobile di Montepulciano and Sassicaia wines! So if you are staying near Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia, Florence (Firenze), Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto why not take a day off from Duomos museums, art and spend a day in the cool fresh waters of the Tuscan rivers fishing for trout!!

We offer expert and reliable fly fishing guided trips to some of the most beautiful trout and grayling streams in central Italy. We offer a full service and supply all equipment: rods (graphite or hand planed Bamboo), lines (PVC or handmade natural silk lines), waders, flies, leaders etc. Let us take you by the hand to organise all the necessary permits and if required we can arrange accomodation for you in two family-run country hotels near our waters.

Our Rivers

The Tevere Tailwaters

TWT

An extremely well managed fishery near Sansepolcro (Arezzo) which is home to one of the most southern actively breeding populations of Grayling and home to the most beautiful Brown trout you've ever seen. Why not bring your family along too. They can spend the day relaxing at the pool at our Country Hotel - Podere Il Violino or they can go sight seeing in Sansepolcro, Anghiari or Arezzo. The hotel has horsing riding facilities and horse riding excursions can be organised in the Tevere valley.  Season starts May 1st and ends December 31st.

The Sieve Tailwaters

Sieve

The Sieve Tailwaters is another well managed fishery with a well structured population of very selective Brown trout about 25 minutes north of Florence. The Sieve runs out of the Bilancino dam and through the Mugello valley which is famous for its striking beauty. The beat is only a few minutes away from a huge designer outlet so why not take a guided trip while your family spends the afternoon shopping for all the famous names in designer clothes? This beat is excellent for a half day's trip and is good from mid July to September. The season ends on the first Sunday of October

The Upper Serchio No Kill

Mulin

The Upper Serchio No Kill is just north of Castelnuovo Garfagnana and it runs through a valley of impressive beauty. The Valley is overlooked by Medieval castles which are still inhabited by their owners. Garfagnana is famous for its simple but fulfilling food and wines. The Valley offers a lot of magnificent sightseeing opportunties and is well known for its hiking trails in the Apuan Alps.

The Lima Stream

Lima

The Lima stream springs from the Abetone mountain in the Apuan Alps and is one of the most beautiful freestone wild streams in Tuscany. Its population of wild trout is of extreme beauty and the fishing is challenging but rewarding. The Lima Valley is of breathtaking beauty. The season starts in March and ends in September. This beat is completely unmanaged so the wild trout are very selective.
